  1. Pre-sold franchise: Minecraft is a pretty popular computer game, so it will be mainly children and/or geeks watching it.

Star: famous star who was in Iron Man, which is a pretty popular film, especially for little boys, so they will want to see him in it.

Spectacle: the spectacle could be the zombies, however it could also be the surroundings, which might have to be built with CGI graphics.

Set pieces: the set piece could be a man killing zombies with just a sword, rather than guns and cars.

Global appeal: the main antagonist are zombies, which everyone is scared of.

  2. Teen audience have had a huge influence in both modern and non modern films and since Minecraft is a computer game which children and teens and even adults alike enjoy so they will therefore enjoy it if they see it in the cinema. It also follows current trends of either kids computer games or kids toys becoming produced in to a film which will be childish and nostalgic. (Transformers, Lego Movie).

  3. Because of rising technologies such as CGI at the same time of the rise of television it has caused a social demand on creating a spectacle so it is something different from a TV show and the public will believe it's worth their time to watch because it is something that they would not have seen before.

  4. The reason there is a need for a global appeal in films is because of the rise of television and the influence that video games have on teen audiences which are the main demographic for summer blockbusters so that is why in films today such as Robocop there are video game like scenes.

  5. Because of film piracy the need for either huge stars, a huge budget and loads of special effects are needed to create a profitable summer blockbuster to make it an event movie that people will feel the need to see this blockbuster in the cinema because it will be an experience that can be spent with other people and if you pirate it from home you will not receive the same experience which is a ploy used by the film industry to only get people back in to the cinema.

  6. Another way in which the film industry tries to drag people in to the cinema is with 3D and IMAX to make it more difficult to pirate film and create a new film experience for the audience.
